Dunkxchange is coming back to the South Florida area...but this time it is coming down to Hollywood! This is the first time it is in the Broward County area, rather than the Miami-Dade County area. Hollywood is my hometown. The area where I was born & raised, making this even more of an excitement for me. To add on to all this excitement DXC will be at the Hard Rock Hotel, making it an even more fascinating event. It will be in Opium Venue, starting at 1:00pm and ending at 5:00pm. This DXC is probably going to be one of the best ones that South Florida has ever had. Stay tuned this weekend for a video update.

Jordan CDP XVII (17)

The 17s are not really a heated shoe, but to me are a definate must have. The Air Jordan XVII was said to be inspired by three different things. These three inspirations are said to be the fine details from an Aston Martin, the flow of a jazz solo, and the long Air Jordan history of innovations in style. They also feature a midfoot cover, which was designed for you to choose whether or not your laces should be visible. The earlier released 17s came with a Jumpman embossed metal carrying case, which as we all know is not your average shoe box. In the lid of the carrying case a CD-rom could be found.
The CDP/OG 17s are my favorite colorway for the 17s. They were my first pair of jordans and the sneakers that got me into the shoe game, the OG release of course. They market for around $80-100 but are kind of hard to find.

Jordan CDP XVIII (18)

The creator of the design of the 18s was Tate Kuerbis. Kuerbis has been part of the Jordan footwear design team since 1999 and also with Nike since 1995. The inspiration of the design for the 18s is a combination of many things. They feature sleek racing lines of the auto world, carbon fiber-based monocoque of F1 race cars, race car driving shoes (rubber heel wrap) and fine Italian dress shoes (bold stitching on the soles).
The CDP (Countdown Package) 18s are not a very rare or pricey shoe. They feature an all suede upper with a patent-like midsole. Although they came in the Coundown Package with the Jordan 5s (releasing on August 23, 2008), it's very common to find these on sale by themselves. They market for around $80-100. All though they are not really considered to be heat, I still have these because I thought the design was interesting and can sort of use them as beaters (even though I still keep good care of them).

Nike SB "Red Lobster"

The Nike SB "Red Lobster" were created in collaboration with the Massachusetts based shop, Concepts. This elborate design was inspired by the seafood heritage of New England. They feature a sport red/pink clay colorway, and draw their inspirations with the color and characteristics of lobsters. Lobster cuisine is famous in New England so it all makes sense. The sockliner and insoles represent the lobster’s bib. They also feature speckles which reflect the spots on the lobster. They also come with a blue rubber band which goes around the toebox, as in the rubber bands seen on lobster claws. Sadly, you cannot wear these rubber bands with the sneaker which, to me, is a big disappointment.
The "Red Lobster" would have to be one of my favorite SBs. These are a must keep. I have gone through three pairs of these and regretted it each time. They released on June 6, 2008 and retailed for . They now market for about $200.

Nike SB released the "Mafia Pack" edition in a high top and low top style. Its design was inspired the the "Goodfellas" movie. The Mafia Pack dunks are a black box series SB. I am going to write about the Mafia Pack highs. Their release date was November 11, 2006. The Mafia Pack highs feature an all white patent leather upper , red stitching, and a red reptilian swoosh. It also features a Nike Italian Horn pendant which hangs from the heel tab. This shoe is a very rare sneaker. They market for about $150-200. It was released as a part of the Italian Collection that included several pieces of Mafia inspired apparel.

Nike SB "Melvins" Black Edition

black melvin top
black melvin box
black melvin innerblack melvin outer

Nike SB released the "Melvin" edition in two high top styles, a white and a black colorway. Its design was inspired by an American rock band from the early 80's, The Melvins. Melvins are a Pink Box series Nike SB Dunk High. I am going to be writing about the black Melvins. They were release date was September 9, 2005. The black Melvins feature a skull and bones on the toe box, and writings embossed onto the side panels and heel of the shoe. It also features a crimson outsole. They retailed for ninety dollars and now market for around $250-300. Black Melvins are a really nice heated shoe. They are a bit harder to find than the white edition, though I would prefer the white editions over the black.

dunkXchange 01/30/10

Dunkxchange was held in Miami, Florida this weekend. It took place at Mecca Venue (950 Northeast 22nd Ave). This dunkXchange was not as active as all of the other ones but it was still a chance to see some real heat and get opportunities to purchase exclusive clothing and accecories. To show you how this Dunkxchange went I put together a little video:
